May 2011

Oh My!! What a month! We have had our ups & downs this month but we are still here in one piece.

The month started of good enough and then the middle happened. My father-in-law had to have emergency surgery will on the road -- thankfully just in Houston. But STRESSFUL!!!!! At this time, he is still in the hospital. He has is NG tube removed and is on a liquid diet.  We just want him home!!!!

In a few days, my little baby will be 2!! When did that happen?! I can't believe how far he's come since we brought him home. He is such a blessing to our lives & I can't imagine anything else taking up my time & love. We decided that we aren't going to have a major birthday bash for him since he won't remember it. So instead we are just having dinner with immediate families and keep everything real simple.

On the craft front, I did manage to complete my thread catcher! And I haven't been able to even cut, much less sew, the border for Robert's quilt yet. Maybe soon. :)

We are still plugging away at Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover -- we are having to stop our Debt Snowball to replenish our ER fund (thanks to little Murphy's) but once that is completed (again) we can pick up our Snowball again.  We also were able to snag some tickets to Dave Ramsey's LIVE Total Money Makeover event in Dallas on October 1st at The Potter's House. I AM SO EXCITED!!! and the babysitter is already scheduled. I so can't wait for the day that we can go to Financial Plaza in Tennessee and shout "WE'RE DEBT FREE!!!!!"

Let's see -- oh, next month we are celebrating our 7th year of marriage!! Amazing that with all the divorce in America today that we are still making it. I credit a lot of hard work on our part but also those amazing mentors that God has placed in our lives. I listen to the podcasts of Marriage Today with Jimmy & Karen for a lot of extra support and areas to think about -- which leads Chris & I into some interesting conversations. Plus we make an effort everyday to keep the romance in our marriage.  Granted some days are easier than others but the end result is so worth the effort. :)

And a side note: We are still here. The rapture did not occur as predicted by the "Rev." Harold Camping.
