This month as seen a lot of things happen to us and for us. It has been a blessing in so many ways, I just hope I can live up to them.
First off, we have started the Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover. At first we were struggling to complete baby step 1 in a timely manner (less than a year) but after some thought and prayer, we were reminded of some bonds from years ago that our parents had the foresight to purchase for us. With those bonds we were able to complete baby step 1 and start on baby step 2. So far we have even been able to pay off our first debt - to Uncle Sam. -- Long story about W4s being wrong, but they are now fixed!
The other major thing to occur for us, was another layoff. This time it was me. So now I have no job and no daycare provider and no money (until unemployment kicks in). Thankfully, since we had already set up our budget, Thank you Dave Ramsey, we were able to adjust our spending to match what we brought in and have yet to need our Emergency Fund (1).
For March, we've already planned our budget based on what I made last year on unemployment. It looks like we will be OK (just no restaurants) and we should be able to pay off 2 more debts!
**God is good when you follow his plan. And thankfully Dave Ramsey is following God by teaching his lessons to all of us.**
On the crafty side of things, I am currently working on a lap-size quilt for Robert. The quilt will be dog-themed. I think he knows that I am making him a quilt because when I work on it, he's right next to me watching. I'll post some pictures when I complete it.
I am also working on writing 2 family history books. The first is actually an update to the book I completed for my father-in-law at Christmas, and the other is a new book for my mother-in-law. Hopefully that will be completed by Christmas 2011.
Bottom line -- this family is getting debt-free while looking for a job and still be crafty! :)
So sorry to hear about your job. :( It's such a rough time and I'm still hoping for positive outcomes after the current stories of the state budget concerns.
